ChanTan Studio FAQ — Real Questions, Answered

Straight answers to the questions ChanTan Studio users really ask: building, credits, publishing, domains, accounts, and what to do when something breaks.

Last updated: Fri Aug 21 2026 07:00:00 GMT+0700 (Indochina Time)

Short, honest answers to the questions people ask most. Nothing here needs any technical knowledge.

Getting started

What is ChanTan Studio?

You describe a website or an app in your own words, and the AI builds it for you. There is no coding at any point.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You only ever type or speak what you want, and the AI does the rest.

Do I need a monthly subscription?

No. Building is pay-as-you-go: you buy credits once and spend them as you build.

The one recurring cost is hosting for an app you have published: the first month is free, then 128 credits per month for each published app (less than $1 a month). That charge is switched off during the closed beta, so nothing is being taken for hosting yet.

Can I sign up with Google or GitHub?

No. Email and password is the only way to create an account, at the sign-up page (/onboarding, reached from the sign-in page's "Create your account" link). Your password must be at least 8 characters — the box still shows an out-of-date "6+" hint, but anything shorter is refused.

GitHub is a separate feature you connect later, to push your code to a private repository.

I just signed up and it says I'm waiting — is something wrong?

No. During the beta every new account is approved by a person before it can build.

The waiting screen checks itself automatically. When you're approved you get an email with your starting credits, and the screen unlocks on its own.

How long does approval take?

There is no published waiting time, and there is no way to skip the queue. If it has been unusually long, email support@chantan.studio.

What languages can I use?

Type in any language — the AI answers in the language and dialect you write in, including Moroccan Darija. The app you build can be multilingual too.

Can I talk instead of typing?

Yes, in two different ways.

Feature What it does
The microphone on the prompt box Turns your speech into written text you can review before sending (up to about 10 minutes, about 1 credit per recording)
"Call us" on the dashboard A real spoken conversation with a ChanTan AI expert, who writes the finished request into your prompt box for you. The call can be held in 14 languages — 21 choices counting regional varieties like Moroccan Darija, Egyptian Arabic and Tachelhit

Building

How do I start a new app?

Describe it in the box on the dashboard and press "Generate".

How long does the first build take?

Usually a few minutes. The screen shows which stage it is on the whole time.

What is the "Plan" button?

It makes the AI propose a plan first, which you approve before anything is built. Nothing is changed and no build is charged until you approve.

Can I change my mind after it builds?

Yes. Just ask for the change in the same chat — that's how every edit is made.

How do I undo something?

"Undo" under the chat rolls back one version, and "Redo" steps forward again. For anything older, open "Version History" — the bar at the top of the chat panel — preview a version, then restore it.

Can I ask for several things at once?

Yes. If you send a message while a build is running it joins a queue and runs automatically afterwards — nothing is lost.

You can pause the queue, drag items to reorder them, edit them or remove them. Each queued request is billed as its own run when it actually executes.

What happens if I press Stop?

The build stops, everything finished so far is kept, and you are charged only for the completed work. Stopping also pauses the queue until you press Play.

Can I upload my own images or documents?

Yes — the "+" button in the chat. Images (up to 5 per message), PDF, CSV, Excel, TXT, Markdown and JSON all work, and the AI reads them and builds from them.

Why did the AI ask me to choose a database?

Because you asked for something that has to remember information — logins, orders, bookings.

The simple answer is "Chantan database": one click, no setup, free to start.

What are the different builders (engines)?

They are different AI builders, chosen from the selector at the bottom of the chat.

Engine Best for
"Chantan Pro" The default — premium designs at the lowest cost
"Chantan Pro Max" The most capable — premium, unique visual design
"Chantan Ultra" Extra built-in data protection

All three carry a "Beta" tag, and the narrow row under the chat box shortens the name to its last word — so "Chantan Pro" appears there as "Pro BETA", and the other two as "Max BETA" and "Ultra BETA". Same three builders.

The $ / $$ / $$$ marks are relative cost hints, not fixed prices — the real cost always depends on how much work the build needs.

Can I edit the code myself?

Not today. The code view under "Manage""Code" is read-only; changes are made by asking in the chat, which keeps every change tracked and reversible.

Can I download my code?

There is no ZIP download. You can connect GitHub in Settings → Integrations and push your project to a private repository on your own account.

Can I click on the page to change text or a photo?

Yes. In the preview toolbar choose "Edit text, colors & photos directly", then click the item you want to change. To leave that mode, press "Cancel" on the green bar across the top of the preview.

Text and colour changes are free; generating a new photo costs credits — today 1 credit for Standard and 22 for Premium, and the price on the card in the app is always the true one.

Every direct edit is saved as a version, so Undo still works.

The preview

It says "Your app is sleeping" — is it broken?

No. Previews pause after a while to save resources. One tap on "Wake up" brings it back.

Your published site never sleeps — only the private working preview does.

The preview isn't showing my latest change.

Give it a few seconds, then press the refresh icon in the preview toolbar.

No. The preview is temporary and private. Publish first, then share the real address.

The preview is completely blank.

Refresh the page first (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R). If it stays blank, tell the AI in the chat — "the preview is blank" — and it can read the app's own error log and fix the cause.

Your data is not lost in this situation; it's a display problem.

Credits & money

How much is a credit?

$1 = 128 credits.

What can I buy?

Six fixed packages, paid by card through Stripe's secure checkout. Card is the only payment method.

Do bigger packages give more?

Yes — bonus credits are already included in what lands in your wallet.

Package Credits you get Bonus
$10 (Starter) 1,280
$25 (Builder) 3,360 +5%
$50 (Most Popular) 7,040 +10%
$100 (Pro) 14,720 +15%
$200 (Best Value) 30,720 +20%
$500 (Ultimate) 76,800 +20%

What do I actually get for $10?

1,280 credits, in your wallet immediately after payment.

Can I pay a custom amount?

No — only the six packages above.

How do I pay?

By card, through Stripe's secure checkout. ChanTan never sees your card number.

Do credits expire?

No. Credits never expire.

What does one build cost?

It depends on the real work done. A small text change is a few credits; a whole new site is much more, and heavier engines cost more than lighter ones.

Why did my available balance drop while a build was running?

Credits are held (reserved) for the build in progress. When it finishes, the reservation settles to the real cost and the unused part returns to your balance automatically.

My build failed — was I charged?

Only for the work that actually completed. The rest of the hold is released back automatically.

Open "Credit activity" on the Wallet page to see exactly what was charged, in plain words.

I think credits disappeared.

Look at "Credit activity" on the Wallet page — every single change to your balance is listed there in plain language, including holds and releases.

Can I get free credits?

Yes. The daily prize wheel, the affiliate program, cashback and milestone rewards are all real.

How does the affiliate program work?

Open "Make Money with ChanTan" (the green button in the header) to get your personal invite link. You earn a percentage of every wallet top-up made by people who join through it, and they get a one-time free-credit bonus after their first top-up.

The exact percentage, how many months it runs, and the bonus amount are all shown on that page — read them there rather than trusting a number from anywhere else.

Commissions appear instantly and are paid monthly (NET 30) as ChanTan credits by default, or by PayPal above the minimum shown on the page. Refunds and chargebacks are deducted.

What is cashback?

A percentage of each top-up comes back to you. Once you have at least $10 of it, you can tick the box on the Wallet page to use it as a discount on your next purchase.

What are the tiers (Gold, Platinum)?

The more credits you spend, the higher your cashback rate — for example Gold 8%, Platinum 12%. Your current tier is shown on the Wallet page.

Can I get a refund?

Support cannot process card refunds directly — they escalate the request to the team. Email support@chantan.studio with your account email and what happened.

⚠️ Credits held for work that never ran are a different thing: those come back to your balance automatically, with no request needed.

Publishing

How do I put my app online?

Press "Publish" at the top-right of your project and choose an address. It takes about 1–4 minutes.

What are my address options?

  1. A free yourname.chantan.one address — instant, great for starting out.
  2. Buy a domain inside ChanTan — everything is connected for you automatically.
  3. "I have a domain" — for a domain you already own elsewhere.

A site can have several addresses at once.

How much does a domain cost?

Prices vary by ending. Some endings start around $1/year, while popular ones like .com cost more.

The exact price for the exact name you want is shown on the purchase screen before you pay.

Does hosting cost anything?

The first month of hosting is free for each published app. After that it's 128 credits per month per published app, coming out of your credit wallet on the same day of the month you first published.

That charge is switched off during the closed beta — nothing is being taken for hosting today, and no site is being paused for it.

Once it is live: if your wallet can't cover it you get email reminders and about 7 days to top up before the site is paused. It is never deleted — topping up brings a paused site back automatically. Taking a site offline stops its hosting charge.

Can I change the free address later?

No. The yourname.chantan.one address cannot be changed after you choose it, so pick carefully.

How long does publishing take?

A few minutes — usually 1 to 4. The screen shows each step.

I published, then made changes — why isn't the live site updated?

New changes stay private until you publish again. Press the same button, now labelled "Update".

How do I connect my own domain?

In the publish window choose "I have a domain", then add the records it shows you at your domain provider. ChanTan checks them automatically and sets up the security certificate for you.

My domain isn't working yet.

Domain changes take time to spread across the internet. The screen tracks each stage, and a "Check now" button appears after a long wait.

Will my bought domain renew automatically?

Not automatically today. Note the renewal date shown on your domain card and contact support well before it expires.

How do I take my site offline?

In the publish window, under More options, choose to take the site offline. The address stays reserved for you, and the hosting charge stops.

Account

Can I change my email?

Yes — Settings → Account.

Can I change my password?

Yes — Settings → Security. Minimum 8 characters.

I forgot my password.

Use "Forgot password?" on the sign-in page. You'll get a reset email; retries are limited per 15 minutes.

Someone else may have my account.

Go to Settings → Security, press "Log out everywhere else", then change your password on the same page.

Can I export my data?

Yes — Settings → Security"Export data" gives you a file with your profile, projects list, credit history and preferences.

That is your account data, not your app's source code. Code goes out through GitHub.

How do I stop the emails?

Settings → Email — turn off product tips. Security and account emails still arrive, and product emails are capped at one per 24 hours anyway.

Can the AI remember things about me?

Yes. Profile instructions you save are read on every build.

How do I connect GitHub?

Settings → Integrations → connect, then use the GitHub button inside a project. Repositories are always created private on your own account, and disconnecting leaves them yours.

Does the Studio have a dark mode?

Yes — the moon/sun icon in the header, saved to your account.

Your built app does not automatically follow it. If you want a light/dark switch inside your own app, ask the AI to add one.

When something is wrong

The page just spins and never loads.

Refresh the page (Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+R). This usually happens right after ChanTan ships an update to a tab you already had open, and a refresh fixes it.

My shop looks empty / the products vanished.

Refresh first. If the content is still missing, tell the AI in the chat exactly what's missing — it can read the app's own logs and fix the cause. Your data is not lost.

I get "too many requests".

Wait a minute and try again. Shared office or school Wi-Fi hits this more often.

The AI says it can't change something I clicked.

Some things can't be edited by clicking — text that comes from data, for example. Type what you want in the chat instead; it can do far more from there.

My build seems stuck.

Builds that go quiet are detected automatically after a few minutes and restarted (up to two automatic resumes), so usually you don't need to do anything.

Check back shortly, and check your Wallet's credit activity rather than expecting a popup. Saying "continue" in the chat picks up where it stopped.

When should I contact support?

Email support@chantan.studio when:

Situation
A credit reserve is still held after 48 hours
The same build or publish error repeats three times
A "temporarily unavailable" message lasts over an hour
A domain message mentions a payment review or an order id
Your account is suspended

Include your account email, the project name, the exact message you saw, and roughly when it happened.
