Languages and Translation in ChanTan Studio
Change the ChanTan Studio interface language, and build sites in any language you want — including multilingual sites with a switcher for visitors.
There are two completely separate things here, and people mix them up all the time:
| What it is | Where you change it | |
|---|---|---|
| The Studio's language | The buttons and menus you look at while working | Settings → Account → "Appearance & language" |
| Your website's language | The words your visitors read on the site you built | You ask the AI in the chat |
Changing one does not change the other. The Studio even says so under the picker: "Changes the app interface — not the sites you build."
Part 1 — Changing the Studio's language
The Studio interface is available in five languages:
English · العربية · Français · Español · ไทย
How to change it
- Open Settings, then the "Account" section.
- Find "Appearance & language".
- Under "App language", pick the language you want.
✅ Done! The menus, buttons and tabs around you switch to your language straight away.
⚠️ Arabic does not flip the layout. This is deliberate — only the words are translated, the layout never mirrors. Everything stays where you're used to finding it.
A few things stay in English
The interface is translated, but some smaller pieces are still English in every language:
- The bin (deleted projects) window
- The "Stopped" reply at the end of a build you cancelled
- Most upload and voice error messages
- The small floating toolbar on photos in click-to-edit ("⬆ Replace", "✨ Generate") and the "this can't be edited here" refusal messages — the green bar, the photo sheet and both quality names are translated
- Account and security emails — approval, password reset, email-change confirmations
Nothing is broken in any of these. The meaning is the same, only the wording is English.
There's also a language switcher in the top-right corner of the sign-in page, so you can change language before you even sign in.
Part 2 — Building your site in any language
This part is not a setting. You just ask.
Talk to the AI in any language
Type in whatever language you like. The AI answers in the language and dialect you write in — including Moroccan Darija.
Ask for the site you want
Tell the AI plainly what the site's text should be:
- "Build my site in French."
- "Translate my site to Arabic."
- "Add French to my site."
Asking for a second language sets up full translation with:
- A language toggle your visitors can use
- Correct right-to-left layout for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian and Urdu — here the layout does mirror, because that's what visitors expect
- The visitor's choice remembered for next time
You can also set the default language visitors see first.
⚠️ Your site's language is never guessed from your Studio language. If your Studio is Arabic and you want an English site, say so in the chat.
If you use the voice expert
You can hold the call itself in 14 languages — 21 choices once you count regional varieties like Moroccan Darija, Egyptian Arabic and Tachelhit. The expert call then asks you separately which language the finished website's text should be in, and repeats your answer back before finishing. Calling in Darija does not make your site Darija — you choose.
When the request is written, the confirmation line shows it: "✓ Your request is written · 🌐 site language: {language}".
Quick answers
Does changing the app language change my website? No. "Changes the app interface — not the sites you build." Tell the AI which language you want your site in.
Can I write to the AI in Darija? Yes. It replies in the language and dialect you write, and the microphone keeps Darija as Darija — never "corrected" into standard Arabic.
Can my site have more than one language? Yes. Ask for it in the chat and you get a working language toggle plus proper right-to-left layout where it's needed.
My Studio is Arabic but the layout didn't flip. That's on purpose. Only the words change.
Can I get ChanTan's own emails in my language? Product tips and project reminders have an "Email language" setting in Settings → Email. Account and security emails arrive in English today.
